Like peanut butter and chocolate, stop motion animation and Legos are a perfect match. This spin-off site for “brick filming” looks to be a new and upcoming haven for lovers of the genre. Eventually, one assumes a gallery of movies as well as a much more informative blog on the subject. If you build it, they will watch.

June 24, 2008of your frames
May 17, 2008When your message is difficult to get across with traditional storytelling, animation is usually the best medium for the job. The fine folks at Three Legged Legs really know how to illustrate a point. Whether for commercial interests or their own, these guys really know their stuff.

April 7, 2008Thousands of individual people were tasked with reproducing 1 of 10,000 different images using a custom drawing tool. None knew of what their illustration would ultimately contribute. All were paid one cent for the item reproduced for a total of $100 spent overall. The final product is a video of all 10,000 pieces being drawn simultaneously to create a 100 dollar bill. Just a tiny slice of an incredible pie.

March 28, 2008of your review
March 22, 2008We all love movies, but sometimes we would like to make sure we see a movie that is actually good. So we ask our friends who’ve seen the movie for their review. If our friends can be trusted, so can their review of proper entertainment. Spill.com is a movie review site hosted, and reviews given by, “your friends.” Clever, funny and insightful; the critics lay it down without holding back and delivered in a very unique fashion. Let’s go out to the movies.
of your glider
March 19, 2008Fan of Hayao Miyazaki? Then surely you know of Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind. Princess Nausicaä cruises the countryside on her personal glider called a mehve (one of the many interesting flying machines in the Miyazaki universe). As it turns out, the industrious folks at Open Sky have been working on making a real-world mehve. One carry-on per person.
of your monster
March 15, 2008A couple of years ago (2006), a mild mannered illustrator of awesomeness decided to pass the time by drawing a monster-a-day in his very unique style. The Daily Monster grew to be an incredible beast with writers and artists the world over contributing to each new drawing. And because 344 loves you so very much, you can now view the first 100 of these inky creatures and their storied lives in “100 Days of Monsters” – available on Amazon and eventually a book store near you. If you happen to be in the L.A. area, near Echo Park, the local Time Travel Mart will be having the book launch party catered there. Your coffee table needs a new book.
of your cut
March 3, 2008Inspired by Oskar Fischinger’s method of clay animation known as strata-cut, Javan Ivey has gone in reverse with stratastencil. This frame-by-frame animation of one layer of paper cut and placed in front of a previously cut sheet produces a very intriguing sequence of events. You don’t need to see where you’re going, just where you’ve been.

of your draw
April 17, 2008The news is boring. However, we need to know what is being said. Enter Josh Landis and Mitch Butler with their Fast Draw blog that illustrates the news you need to know, brilliantly. Their commentary can get a bit animated.
