It’s hard to get your ideas for a new comic series out there. After all the trouble to get it printed and submitted, accepted and then published, will people even like it? Zuda comics has a bit of an outlet for the upcoming comic book artist. Submit your comic to the competition and be judged by your peers and fans. Web comics are growing up.

For years (60s-Present), the inside back cover of Mad Magazine sported a piece of cartoon commentary from artist Al Jaffee. The clever bit about these illustrations were that if you folded the cover just so, they would reveal another image altogether. Topically current and always amusing, these hidden cartoons gave the back page all the glory. A> <B.

If you’ve completed the mini-game, Portal, then you were treated to this little ditty by Jonathan Coultan (sung by Ellen McLain). VGCats proprietor Scott Ramsoomair has recently taken a bigger dive into Flash and came up with a video of his own to accompany the song. A worthy reward for those still alive.

Online comics are a remarkably tough sale. In such a quick-paced environment, such as the internet, the story has to be pretty compelling and the art clever and whimsical. Trade Loeffler delivers with Zip and Lil Bit Funnies. Now in their second adventure (Sky Kayak), Zip and Lil Bit are two siblings that have wonderfully creative imaginations in a bizarre alternate universe of non-functioning mirrors, continually flying paper airplanes and (a favorite feature) dynamic pajamas.

Flight is an anthology of great stories. It just also happens to be an anthology of great art as well. Over 50 comic book artists have found their work on this journey (now on its fourth trip) captained by Kazu Kibuishi, and each collection is worth every second you stay up with a flashlight under your bed sheets.
