of your submission

May 28, 2008

It’s hard to get your ideas for a new comic series out there. After all the trouble to get it printed and submitted, accepted and then published, will people even like it? Zuda comics has a bit of an outlet for the upcoming comic book artist. Submit your comic to the competition and be judged by your peers and fans. Web comics are growing up.

Al Jaffee’s fold-ins

For years (60s-Present), the inside back cover of  Mad Magazine sported a piece of cartoon commentary from artist Al Jaffee. still alive video

If you’ve completed the mini-game, Portal, then you were treated to this little ditty by Jonathan Coultan (sung by Ellen McLain). Now in their second adventure (Sky Kayak), Zip and Lil Bit are two siblings that have wonderfully creative imaginations in a bizarre alternate universe of non-functioning mirrors, continually flying paper airplanes and (a favorite feature) dynamic pajamas.

Over 50 comic book artists have found their work on this journey (now on its fourth trip) captained by Kazu Kibuishi, and each collection is worth every second you stay up with a flashlight under your bed sheets.
