It’s hard to get your ideas for a new comic series out there. After all the trouble to get it printed and submitted, accepted and then published, will people even like it? Zuda comics has a bit of an outlet for the upcoming comic book artist. Submit your comic to the competition and be judged by your peers and fans. Web comics are growing up.

In 1961, several hundred Americans of incredible courage—known as Freedom Riders—went to bus and train stations in the South and challenged the segregation laws in place there. All were arrested for being humans with black skin. Breach of Peace is a powerful book that tells their story with photos from the past and present. Sit where you like.

A couple of years ago (2006), a mild mannered illustrator of awesomeness decided to pass the time by drawing a monster-a-day in his very unique style. The Daily Monster grew to be an incredible beast with writers and artists the world over contributing to each new drawing. And because 344 loves you so very much, you can now view the first 100 of these inky creatures and their storied lives in “100 Days of Monsters” – available on Amazon and eventually a book store near you. If you happen to be in the L.A. area, near Echo Park, the local Time Travel Mart will be having the book launch party catered there. Your coffee table needs a new book.

Only $10 for the real thing, but free to view online; this helpful alphabet archive is chock full of beauties for each letter. All manners of illustrative style adorn the pages as you are treated to some animals you may not have considered before. A safari that would make Sesame Street proud.

Novels that cater to young adults are quite abundant these days. However, those that appeal to multiple age groups are a little less common. Some 10+ years ago, British author Philip Pullman seems to have done just that with Northern Lights (The Golden Compass to us Yanks) – now a motion picture. Armored polar bears, live action steam punk and adolescent heroines. Mmmmm, that’s good readin’.

Flight is an anthology of great stories. It just also happens to be an anthology of great art as well. Over 50 comic book artists have found their work on this journey (now on its fourth trip) captained by Kazu Kibuishi, and each collection is worth every second you stay up with a flashlight under your bed sheets.

This bit of news seems very arbitrary and bizarre without much reasoning to why it even matters or how it truly offers insight into the character. However, it’s good to know that the Wizarding World has very good non-discrimination policies for high-level individuals in significant roles.
